The Common Cutting Material of Laser Cutting Machine
1. Carbon steel
To cut carbon steel, pure oxygen should be added as aided gas. The max cutting thickness can reach 20 mm. For thick plate, the kerf width is 0.3 mm. For thin plate, the kerf width can be 0.2 mm or so.
2. Stainless steel
To cut stainless steel, high pressure nitrogen gas should be added as auxiliary. The max cutting thickness can reach 10 mm. A laser cutting machine is very suitable for the process of stainless steel and S - 06 sheet. Tha heat affected zone is small, which can effectively maintain good corrosion resistance of such materials.
3. Aluminium and aluminium alloy
To cut aluminum, high pressure nitrogen gas should be added as auxiliary. Aluminum cutting belongs to melt cutting mechanism due to aluminum’s high reflectivity to laser. Only thinner aluminum plate can be cutted. The auxiliary gas is mainly used to blow away the molten product from the cutting area and helps to obtain a better cutting quality.
4. copper and copper alloy
Pure copper (copper) possesses a very high reflectivity so basically, it can not be cutted by CO2 laser.
